On 29th August, 2019 [National Sports Day] the Honorable Prime Minister launched nationwide "Fit India Movement" aimed to encourage people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their everyday lives and daily routine. So as to take this mission forward, CBSE has directed to all its affiliated schools to celebrate "Fitness Week" in the month of November & December.
As per the guidelines of CBSE, S.L. Memorial Senior Secondary School celebrated "Fitness Week" in its campus from 25th November to 30th November, 2019. A total of 6 working days observed as "Fitness Week". Various sports & fitness related activities were conducted during this week.Our students performed exceptionally well in all the activities
Monday morning marked with the beginning of the ‘fitness week celebration’ where all S.L.M.S. students performed Yoga enthusiastically. A total of 890 students and teachers performed Yoga, aimed to build strength, awareness and harmony in both mind and body.
S.L. Memorial School students started the second day of fitness week with free hands exercise in morning assembly where all students performed knee-bands, one leg squats etc. Then after, a total of 50 students along with physical instructors moved for cycling and covered 10 k.m. distances. Cycling is mainly an aerobic activity and it raises your metabolic rate, builds muscle and burns body fat.
On 27th November, 2019 Poster Making Competition on theme ‘’Fit Body – Fit Mind – Fit Environment’’ was held in school premises. Later the same day Fitness Assessment" were held in school.
On the IV day the students were participated in various physical activities and they enjoyed all these activities thoroughly such us Dance, Aerobics, Yoga, Martial Arts, Rope-Skipping, and Gardening etc.
Later on Essay/Poem writing Competition on theme "Fit India School" were organized where students from all classes participated actively.
Sport Quiz Competition was organized in S.L. Memorial School on November 29, 2019 for classes VI to XI under fitness week celebration.
The purpose of conducting this quiz competition is to give students an interactive platform where students are participating to gain knowledge about various games played all over the country.
Competition for Students, Staff and Parents in Traditional/Indigenous/Regional Games- To celebrate the Unity in Diversity.
The last day of the fitness week was the most awaited day where all students are waiting eagerly to play the games of different states.
This competition aimed to celebrate the unity in diversity of our nation and to inculcate sensitivity in future generation towards India’s vivid culture.
